Our Christmas Tree.

Star-shaped bokeh effect made thanks to this tutorial – http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_create_your_own_bokeh.

This tree has been in our family since I was 5…so it’s been with us for 15 years. We recently got a replacement tree, so this will be the last year we’re using it.

Fare thee well, tree.

You know, some times the bread at a restaurant is a lot better than the meal itself. I find that sometimes I fill myself with it before getting to the main meal…then I’m like stuffed. But then you order another basket of bread anyway, just so you can doggie-bag it as well.

Simple tastes.

Mm, Pistachios. In chinese, these are called “happy fruits” or “happy nuts”.

They make me happy.

So get back, back, back to the disaster

So get back, back, back to the disaster

I think one of my personal quirks is the uncanny knack to try to use things beside/beyond the way they were designed to be. Be it dreaming about fitting my car with unnecessary and ridiculous modifications, installing linux on an old iPod just to watch video, or pushing my computer to extraordinarily ridiculous limits, I seem to always find something that could use a small bit of a tune up.

Knowing that, hopefully it won’t come as a surprise that I sometimes tend to prepare my instant noodles as…well, non-instant. Call it ‘Gourmet Instant Noodles’. Usually it’s not that much added, but on the whole it makes a pretty big impact. Additions usually consist of an egg, some leftover meat, and some veggies. It’s a pretty nice feeling that you get from creating something more out of an ordinary dish. I guess that’s the way work was made to be – something productive yet enjoyable.

Picture of the day: Guacamole I [attempted] to make. It usually comes out a lot better looking…and edible. I think this time it came out this way because of the ingredients. I used preserved tomatoes instead of fresh ones, and accidentally poured in all the tomato juice as well. I also might have used too much onion/garlic – the batch was a bit spicy. The avocado itself was a bit weird tasting too. Oh well.

On the brightside, I got to enjoy some SpongeBob today. Yay SpongeBob!

Oh hey. Looks like I’ve completed week 1 of the 365 challenge. 51 more weeks to go. This is pretty fun.

Forget December, it won't be better

Forget December, it won't be better

Picture for the day – Susana came over from NY for a visit (yay), and we got to hung out for a day. Peter also came by, and stayed for dinner as well. Mom’s spaghetti and chicken – simply delicious.

Random thought for today, possible blog topic for later: If you knew that you were going to wake up tomorrow and forget everything about yourself and everyone you knew, and you were allotted 10 sentences to tell yourself, what would you say? You wouldn’t necessarily have to tell your amnesiac (?) self everything about your current self – in fact, wouldn’t it be interesting if you told your new self something inaccurate?

On a different note, I’m evaluating my pictures so far from the 365 challenge…while they have somewhat accurate caught a glimpse of my daily life, they’re not really pushing me to advance in photography much. Just a thought for myself.
